This is another step into reading book, I love this book because it has rhyming words for the students to practice! ( ) Summary: The cat in the hat shows up at the children's house with a cook book ready to bake a yummy treat. The children have to decide which baking tin is the best to cook their yummy treats in, then they must mix the treats after gathering all the needed ingredients. When they make a mess they must clean it up before it gets worse. After the cupcakes are done, they get to set down and eat their yummy creation. Personal reaction: The first time I read this book was to my niece, and she kept bringing it back to me to read over and over again. It reminded me of my love for Dr. Seuss when I was younger. Classroom extension ideas: 1) This book could be read on Doctor Seuss's birthday in memory of him and afterwards the children could have cupcakes. 2) The students could act out the book using fake pots and pans, and use a book as a cookbook, get them involved with the story. 3) It could be used to teach children to clean up after themselves. This book is an easy reader that rhymes. The cat wants to cook and he has a cookbook. the boy and girl help him find the necessary ingredient. They pour batter into the tin and slop the glop on top. then they heat the treat and eat, eat, eat. The book is for kindergarten or first grade students. The website www.seusville.com is kid friendly and has animated prompts to direct the user to the different places on the site. The Playground has games and a Storymaker where students can actually write their own book by choosing from different scenes and caharacters. Connect the Dots to Horton makes a picture of Horton's character. I think that K-4 grade students would like the website. This is a good example of a fantasy for early primary classes. It is a small step from reality because the cat in the hat really can't cook and he has human characteristics. It is a simple fun and entertaing book for kids. This is a very early elementary book so there is little character or plot development and the setting is unknown. The characters are flat and static because little is known about them and they don't change. The students would be able to easily relate to them because of their age, as seen in the pictures, and obvious new experiences in the kitchen. The media used in this book is pen. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
