But the illustrations do not suit at all. Mr. Ross, you have talent, yes. Your art is wonderful for the right book - by which I mean most of your other stories. But this, oh dear, would be so much better with another artist. Heck, it'd be better with no pictures at all than with yours. Sorry. But again let me say, I absolutely love the story. And if you do decide to hire another illustrator to make another edition, I'll buy a copy (unless you hire Quentin Blake). How's that for an offer? ( ) I really did not like this book. I thought it was boring, and I honestly don't think anyone over the age of 6 would be amused by it. I hate to write a bad review - I really liked the concept of the book (little girl doesn't believe in fairies or magic, an old lady puts doubt her mind, etc). The children, especially the main character, Bessie, was a really lame kid in the beginning (rude, blunt). The only reason I rated this as 2 stars is because I *kind of* liked the way Bessie and Mrs. Leaf/Daisy remained friends. Bessie never really was sure whether she believes in fairies until she met Mrs. Leaf, her neighbor. They grow a lifelong friendship, each changing in their own ways. However, Mrs. Leaf changes in such an abnormal and somewhat magical way leaving Bessie to question whether she could be a fairy. It is an extremely touching and sweet fairy tale. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
Young Bessie doesn't have much reason to believe in fairies until she meets her strange and wonderful neighbor, Mrs. Leaf. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
