This kid friendly picture book describes how different birds build their homes. It covers numerous birds such as: bald eagles, penguins, blue-footed bobby, barn owls, snowy owls, and various other birds. This book is colorfully illustrated and gives lots of information on different birds. I expected the book to be about ostriches only but it gives information on other birds, as well. ( )

This is a great book for replacing textbooks. The variety of birds shown and discussed is thorough and impressive. Each next is explained and taken apart so that the reader learns about the diversity of birds. At the end of the book there is a large map, stretching across two pages with the home of every bird mentioned in the book. There are 40 birds listed in all. If they have more than one home it is listed as well. For a student who is curious about birds, this book will open their mind up to so many more facts about a number of birds.

This book will answer some questions that you have regarding birds and their nests. For over 30 types of birds, the author describes how each bird constructs their nest. The fact that many of these birds make their nest out of so many common items such as paper clips, strips of cloth, and rubberbands was very interesting. After reading this book, both of my children, ages three and six, wanted to go outside and look for birds’ nests. This book would be appropriate for children in preschool through sixth grade. It could be used in a natural science class or as an informative book for young children. The book also includes a world map that tells you where you can find the different types of birds. It also includes instructions on how to help birds build their nests. The illustrations in the book were done in watercolor. I think that it would have been more interesting if the illustrations were pictures. I understand that photographs of the different nests may not have been possible, but it would have been nice to see actual pictures of the birds. The vivid colors of the birds would have been a welcomed addition to the book. ( )

Hynes Library:
A wonderful book depicting the various nests that birds use to lay their eyes. Each bird includes a small caption giving more explanation for that pericular bird. ( )

A book about different types of birds and their nest. This books explains many different types of birds and how they make their nest. It teaches us what they use to build their nest and where they build them. Not all birds have their nest in trees, some live underground and in the inside of a tree trunk. This would be a good book to read to children when teaching them about the different types of birds they have, and also to teach them how birds nest. ( )
