The heart of the book is so sweet, and you can feel the love; the dedication at the end is from the author to her baby. Sadly, the poem isn't very good. The text is a fine example of forcing odd sentence structures to fit the rhyme. Rhyme is great, but it needs to be organic to the text, not a bully that commandeers all aspects of syntax and style to conform to its dictates. The pictures have a cute subject matter, as they focus on the mom and child, but are not that attractive to me. The accompanying CD is a welcome addition, and the best redeeming feature of the book. It has the story set to song, followed by many other lullabies and children's songs. I wouldn't have bought the book myself - it was a gift - but at least we get some use out of the music. As night draws near, mom and baby share precious moments during bath time and bedtime. "Up the stairs and in the bath I'll wash those little toes. Tickle your tummy as you splash, then, I'll kiss your sweet, wet nose." Bedtime is a special time for bonding and saying, "I love you." Rhyming words will make this a favorite for young children. This book is the perfect way to end a busy day. Titles in the Bedtime Series include: Sleep, My Little One, The Night-Night Song, I Love You More, It's Night, Night Time, and I Thank God For You.
