The main character's lives just suffered one bad thing after another after another and after another. It got me very depressed but I know these things truly happened in the history of our country. Their family stays strong through it all, it was just a little too depressing a subject for me. ( ) A sequel to the Shiloh trilogy by Bodie Thoene, this is also complete in itself although it makes more sense when read as a sequel. Set in the early 1930s, as the American economy collapses, with a Christian message and a good picture of everyday life for small-town people. Interesting; gripping in places, but in a way I wish I hadn't read it after the trilogy as there were some rather upsetting subplots. I've just finished reading Shiloh Autumn, a book that's related to but not a part of the Shiloh Legacy series by Bodie and Brock Thoene. I loved this book. Loved it. After reading the Shiloh Legacy series, the Tucker and Canfield families felt like old friends to me. I wept for their sorrows and rejoiced for their joys, and I really hated to reach the end of the book. As always, the historical aspects of the Thoenes' writing are meticulously researched, and the characters just come to life on the pages. It's also refreshing to read a book, a series, that affirms and shares my values and beliefs, and leaves me remembering that God walks with His children through life's ups and downs. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
The Tucker and Canfield families are weathering the stock market crash just fine on their Arkansas cotton farm, but the Memphis panic and disaster of October 1, 1931 send them into a tailspin and the troubles seem to keep piling up as they try to hold on to their faith in God.
