Perez Hilton-self proclaimed 'Queen of All Media,' founder of Perez Hilton.com (the country's largest celebrity blog), and 'one of the most polarizing media figures since Howard Stern' (LA Weekly)-cuts loose with a book that should definitely secure his reputation as 'the most hated man in Hollywood' (Rolling Stone). Psycho celebs dominate news, fashion, and trends, Influencing how we speak, what we wear, and who we hang out with. We're obsessed! Our reality-based, gossip-driven world has set the barometer for what's in or out. So who are we trying to become and how do we become them! Well, post a grainy sex video online, drive high and wasted against oncoming traffic, flash your coochie for the cameras, and if those don't work, attempt suicide, and you're bound to become a 'Hilton.' Now the man behind 'Hollywood's most hated Web Site'*-infamous for breaking raw superstar dish and jaw-dropping commentary-lends his fearless voice, notorious sense of humour, and outrageous sensibility to Red Carpet Suicide, the book celebrities have been look forward to as much as their next DUI. Making sense of the madness and celebrity addiction that consume us, Perez twists this irresistible and delicious guilty pleasure into a hysterically funny, shockingly true, and generation-defining survival guide. 'So hold on to your hats. Bitches. It's going to be a wild ride,' * The Insider… (plus d'informations)

I enjoy the little tidbits of history that C S Harris interweaves into her story. This novel relates the only assignation of an English Prime Minister while in office. I also like how Harris preaches about the ills of society in a non-threatening manner. Of course, the secret of Sebastian's father will soon be revealed, but I really like the pairing of Hero Jarvis and Sebastian. I hope to see more of this pairing. The story becomes a little too graphic in some instances, almost like reading Patricia Cornwall. I am very happy to have discovered this series, and will recommend C S Harris to my many book clubs. Please Help Keep the Planet Green Save a Tree and Don't Buy This Book!!! LOL!

Red Carpet Treatment by Perez Hilton

Trash; pure and utter diabolical trash, told with a wee bit wit and tons of satire.
Learn the secrets of the “stars” - and then run like the wind in the other direction, all the while holding your sides from laughing at the antics of these celebutantes, “wanna be’s“, “has been’s” and “never was“. Shameless, lewd, exploitive, slightly amusing drivel about those you won’t remember in the next 15 minutes; except maybe for an interesting obit in the paper upon their deaths from malnutrition or over-dosing or sexually transmitted disease.

A humorous way to kill an hour, but I would rather you saved a tree and helped keep the world green by reading about these shameless caricatures of human beings on-line for free.
If you MUST buy this book at least do your wallet a favor and wait for the paper-back. ( )

Perez Hilton is practically a "hilton" himself, and I like the idea that he "gets" that. A 'hilton' according to Mr. Perez is someone without any talent who still becomes famous for being famous. Perez Hilton has had a celebrity blog for years now and has become quite famous, to the point of befriending (and making enemies with) a good deal of celebrities. If you enjoy www.Perezhilton.com and enjoy his snarky, over the top humor, than you should enjoy "Red Carpet Suicide". I found that I did indeed enjoy this book...but I like "Star", "Entertainment Weekly" and "People" magazine too. I also (mostly) got the satire here. I flew through the book in a matter of an hour or so. I even read passages to my husband when I got to something funny about a celebrity my husband (not so much the celeb fiend) might actually know. As others have mentioned, this book is not for the easily offended. There are lots of cuss words, jokes about deceased celebs, DUIs, and toilet purges. Not much is sacred to Perez. Although I found the first and largest section of the book "Becoming a Hilton" entertaining, I enjoyed "The Future of Hilton" much more. It was entirely built upon specultion about the future of the celebrities popular right now and the futures of their children. The third section "My Life As A Hilton" was positively the best, most entertaining part of the book. The first section was funny in and of itself, but nothing Perez mentioned is really new here. The stories he mentions in "My Life As A Hilton" were new to me and if he could have come up with enough content to make this the largest portion on the book, it would have received more stars from me. I also had a complaint about how Perez ends the book. The book abruptly ends immidately following a story about a phone call with a celebrity. No wrapping up loose ends or anything here. There is an "Afterward" that like the "Foreward" did nothing for me. This book isn't for everyone. In fact, its probably not even for everyone. Yet, for those of us "celebrity" mongers out there, "Red Carpet Suicide" is certainly worth the read. ( )
