The DVD included with this text is mind-blowing. One of my greatest frustrations with work like Cornell's is that I can't pick it up, shake it, or play with it. In some short video clips included on the disc, they do just that: light sources move around the shadow boxes in ways I wouldn't thought of, bottles are removed from racks and examined, glass balls tinkle against container walls. It's the first time I've seen an art DVD that gives me an experience I otherwise couldn't have had.

The book itself is lavish nearly to the point of silliness. ( )
