I thought that "Ticket to the Twenties" was a brilliant book for younger students looking to learn about the 1920s. The beginning of the book tells readers that they have received a ticket to travel in time to discover more about the 1920s. It discusses topics such as how to dress, how to speak and what to expect when you arrive in the time period. I think it is an engaging book that would be easy to read in sections with a younger audience, and I thought there was a lot of content that could inspire projects or extra activities to complement the text. I really enjoyed reading this book, and I felt like I learned a lot about the 1920s that I did not know before! ( )

"Ticket to the Twenties" proves itself to be an interesting and informative book about several different aspects of life during this time period. The book encourages readers to get their ticket to the "Time Line's Good Time Tour" and travel back through time through the roaring 20s. The book features an accurate, kid-friendly account of life during this time period which includes timelines, black-and-white photographs, and a dictionary of "jive talk". Additionally, the book features a page on 1920s women and explains that women in the 1920s are "demanding a more active role in life than they've ever had before". The book also shows a page about discrimination, which brings up facts that tend to be swept under the rug (such as the fact that African Americans, Jews, Catholics, Native Americans, Japanese Americans, and Chinese Americans were discriminated against by white Americans). A Ticket to the Twenties is a great resource for a history lesson. It depicts what life was like in the 20's. It helps students visualize life as it was. Also, the book includes important dates. I would read this to a younger class so they can really grasp what it was like in the 1920's ( )

Ticket to the Twenties describes what life was like during the 1920s. The book focuses on everyday things like clothes and school and daily life. It does not go into the history or politics of the time. It is put together in a scrap book form with short bits of information. I would imagine it can hold a child's attention. The pictures are cartoony and don't really give a feel for the time period. ( )

This book helps children see what everyday life in the twenties was like. It provided important dates of historical events that occurred in the twenties. This book would be a great resource to use if you were studying the twenties in a classroom. I would put everything in prospective for the children. ( )
