HTML:A conservative historian defends Americas past by debunking four dozen common liberal myths
In this follow-up to the best-selling A Patriots History of the United States, Professor Larry Schweikart once again challenges liberal historians and their shameful attempts to distort our countrys legacy. This time he takes on authors of popular textbooks who, in an effort to be politically correct, tarnish Americas image in the eyes of our high school and college students.
The problem isnt that liberal authors present their opinions or interpretations of history from an obvious left-wing bias. The problem is authors who actually distort facts and manipulate data in an effort to appear objective and unbiased while furthering their leftist objectives.

This is a pretty good book, and I learned a few things I can shove into my lectures, though I've also had reiterated to me things I already knew. The author does a good job addressing these liberal lies, pointing out how they invade our textbooks, in our common cultural knowledge, then rebutting them. The notes are okay, though sometimes he refers to his own textbook, which is a tad unhelpful. In the end, it is a good book, an easy one to read as each chapter is particularly short. However, with "liberal lies" in the title, this will do nothing to convince a liberal, even if they pick it up. Still, it is much better written and presented than the Politically Incorrect Guide series. ( )

By far 48 Liberal Lies About American History is his easiest to read.

Thankfully this book is not as verbose as his other similarly formatted books. By this I mean, each "lie" he counter argues is typically two pages long (some are four or five) and are concise, fact-based and persuasive. As a comparison each of his books, "What Would the Founding Fathers Do?" and "7 Events that Made America America", are nearly as voluminous separately as 48 Lies.

This books is not only excellent for the information and accurate truths, but it is well purposed for when you don't have time or commitment to read. ( )

The 48 listed items are very short but can be helpful as references and is a handy companion volume to Schweikart's excellent Patriot's History.

A thinly veiled excuse to justify the Bush presidency, I don't know why I even bothered. It could have actually tried to refer to the subject matter the title references, or justify Bush, not disguise one to do the other. ( )
