Underneath the layers of absurdities are kernels (sometimes rather large ones) of truth. Buckley satirizes not only the Supreme Court, but inside-the-Beltway politics, Congress, reality television, public opinion, the media cycle, and the entire legal system at large. I loved every minute of it. ( ) U.S. President, having had two candidates for the Supreme Court torpedoed by politics, chooses a spunky TV judge as his third candidate. Pepper Cartwright then becomes the prevailing vote in a unbalanced Court for a number of cases, including reduced term limits for the incumbent President. Light, but amusing. This a fun read read about a President of the United States who wants to run for a second term only to lose on purpose and who is also has the task of selecting a candidate to the Supreme Court. After qualify candidates are strike down by one after one by Senate, President Donald P. Vanderdamp then turns to a television judge, Pepper Cartwright, who stars on Courtroom Six. Only after Pepper Cartwright is selected to the Supreme Court, she is then thrown into Constitutional crisis when President Vanderdamp decides to run for a second term of Presidency, as a new amendment is ratified limiting the Presidential Term limit to only one term.
