This is a story that brings two classic characters together, Alice from Wonderland and Humpty Dumpty. In this story Humpty Dumpty is a very uppity egg that doesn't want to listen to Alice when she tells him that he should get down from the wall before he falls. Humpty believes that if he falls the kings men will be able to put him back together again. Alice tries to explain to Humpty that it is not possible to put a broken egg back together.

As a child I remember reading the poem about Humpty Dumpty and the story of Alice in Wonderland. While they are classics that have been around for many years, I have not shared these stories with my children because of the association of drugs with Alice in Wonderland.

As a classroom extension, I would have the children draw a picture of their favorite character from either story with a brief description of their character along with its name. Another extension activity would be to have the children share their picture with the class and tell a little bit about the character they chose as their favorite. ( )
