Nice reading in the time of Corona, especially if you've seen the TV series.
17 years later... You will meet a hyperkinetic and hilarious Mrs. Bennet, a lovely Jane, an uncertain and brooding Elisateth, a Mr. Darcy who always remains himself: sometimes hateful distant, sometimes in love like a child, their two childeren Miranda and Master Edward. There still is the annoying Mr. Collins and his rather timid wife Charlotte, not to forget the haughty Miss Bingley and Lady Catherine and a lot of other acquaintances. Beautiful chicklit when you are captivated by the world of Jane. Not more, not less. ( )

I read Pemberley, another Pride and Prejudice spinoff by the author a while back. It is fun to see what happens next between Elizabeth and Darcy, though I had a different ending in mind.

This book jumps forward in time, the Darcys are having problems with their teenage son, who is set to inherit Pemberley, and who is not as sensible as Miranda, the older sister who won't inherit.

This is a light, wet winter's day kind of read. What I didn't like was that Elizabeth had lost her spark, whereas in Pemberley she is a newly-wed having doubts, here it seemed like her marriage had cowed her into submission. ( )

The characters have the same names but this is about the only similarity to Austens original work. Elizabeth and Darcy do not act in keeping with their original charcters and the story line is forced. Mrs Bennett and Mr Collins are ridiculous which is the only enjoyable part of the story. ( )

A sequel to Pride and Prejudice this would today be referred to as Fanfic. It follows the lives of Darcy and Elizabeth and their children, the dissolute Edward and the almost-perfect MIranda.

Not as good as the original, it echoes Jane Austen but fails to reach the bar. ( )
