Many of Dr. Seuss' titles emphasize the idea that 'you are you, and that's all that matters' lesson. This book is about a bird who tries to look like a very popular bird, so she eats special berries to look like her, in the end she finds out that fame comes with a price and it is just better to be who she is. This story can be used in an elementary setting to bring up the lesson about being yourself. It might not hit home with elementary students as much as it will with Junior High and even High School, but it is still a good tool for elementary. In the upper grades you could talk about drugs and enhancements that people use to make them look like other famous people or to just 'feel better' and end up with bad results. In my perspective, the berries in the story represent mondern day substance or pills to enhance something. My student liked the book and understood the lesson, and it was really good for predicting what was going to happen. Most all Dr. Seuss books have vivid imagery and clues to make predictions. ( ) This was a good ryhming book. It would be good to read to younger students. http://www.seussville.com/lb/home.html aucune critique | ajouter une critique
