The title promises far more than the book can deliver.The author endorses the idea that people remain unchanged, the same person from birth to old age. This is the complete opposite of what I had expected to find in the book, coming from the Buddhist notion of true nature in an ever-changing being. I could not make it past the first 3 or 4 chapters. (

I loved her first book but this one just didn't connect with me like the first one. Perhaps because I was searching much more when I was thirty and not so much now.

I decided I didn't need this book. Either I have no authentic self or I've had it so long it just seems natural to me. Also, on a recent trip I happened to catch a little of the author's story on Oprah's new network and I'm afraid I don't think I should be taking advice from someone who appeared to have a serious shoe shopping addiction. (
