At times it was hard to follow as it kept switching between events in the main characters lives so suddenly. It read a little like a soap opera. The plot itself was a bit confusing until the end, but I did like the way the whole thing wrapped up. ( ) This was a quick, easy read......but it left me feeling rather empty, as if I had eaten a full meal without consuming a thing. The book centers on the glamorous world of Manhattan's black elite and the lengths they'll go to to maintain their position in life. Pretty much teh same old tired forumla that's been used so many times before. If you enjoy "lite" reading without any substance you'll enjoy Gotham Diaries. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

From the bedroom to the boardroom, this entertaining, clever work of social satire explores seduction, scandal, excess, betrayal, desire, dreams, and deception through one of a kind characters: Manny Marks, a real estate broker to New York City's affluent, selling to the highest bidder even if it's not property he's pandering; Tandy Brooks whose "friends" Ed and Lauren Thomas are her ticket to the good life, and Manny Marks her partner in crime; Ed Thomas, a man of power and prestige with roguish ways that could cost him the one possession he loves the most, his wife; Lauren Thomas married Ed for love, but is it enough to sustain her marriage and contain her spirit? In this compelling first novel, Tonya Lewis Lee and Crystal McCrary Anthony give us a rare glimpse inside the fashionable and urbane world of New York's African-American society and its intricate scandals, foibles, and skeletons.
