Detailed description of Charles Johnson's year (June 1968-June 1969) as Interim President of the University of Oregon, after Pres. Arthur Flemming's (1961-1968) and before Pres. Robert Clark (1969-1975). Author was UO Professor of Journalism, and editor of alumni magazine and executive secretary of the Presidential Search Committee. Johnson died in car crash on McKenzie Highway on June 17, 1969. Good case example of the issues and confrontations on college campuses at that time, the specific twist of those at UO, and the stress those caused for a university president. Author chose to use frequently dialogue, which he claims may not be precise but captures the essence. Book republished in 2001 by UO Press with apparently no additional material. Informative and thought provoking, but probably of marginal interest if one is not already familiar and interested in Oregon history and politics. ( ) aucune critique | ajouter une critique
