IQP6KJ77 I wish I had this simply told, beautifully illustrated and short chapter book featuring three tales of Merlin and King Arthur when I was child. My brother and I were huge fans of the King Arthur myth, Godzilla movies, and Greek & Roman mythology. Reading these types of books now remind me how much I missed out on as kid and not having a well stocked library. I can't wait to read it to my daughters tonight. They saw the 50-year-old The Sword in the Stone Disney cartoon over the weekend, and I want to introduce them to the King Arthur mythology while the iron is still hot. That was a severely shortened and chopped up telling of King Arthur. I understand it’s intended for children, but had I read this as a child I would not have been interested in learning more about this legend, and I absolutely love and adore the legend of King Arthur. The illustrations were amazing and is the saving grace for this review, I just wish they had been bigger to fully take in and appreciate them. This, however, failed, imo. I think I'd give it one star except for Hyman's illustrations - and even there, well, she's done better. I think it's because this tried to cover Arthur's whole life and beyond. It was flat, generic, and vague. Now, a disclaimer - the only Arthur story I've ever enjoyed is [b:The Sword in the Stone|975132|The Sword in the Stone|T.H.
