( ) I purchased this off BookBub because the premise sounded like a fun, lose yourself, easy read. The southern voice of the protagonist makes for a quirky, sometimes funny, entertaining story. One you can just breeze through and enjoy. There are many typos and I found it annoying so this did bring down my over all enjoyment. (Do they not have proof readers any longer?) Overall I can recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a light hearted murder mystery. The Amazon blurb imagines this as "Fried Green Tomatoes" with murder. I see it as "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" especially the musical version. Bonita Faye is a forthright, can-do kind of girl and she will murder you if you a need it. Cue the orchestra. Some readers will want more gravitas and plausibility, but never you mind. Just enjoy "Bonita Faye" as humorous fiction for a sunny summer read. And watch out for poison ivy! "Bonita Faye" is one of the older titles Brash Books is reissuing in digital form. It was originally published in 1997 by Three Forks Press and was a finalist for an Edgar award. I received a review copy of "Bonita Faye" by Barbara Moseley (Brash) from the publisher. Bonita Faye is a very remarkable character. When her life begins, her prospects for a successful and happy life seem slim, at best. But despite life's very serious set-backs, Bonita Faye keeps trudging forward. Margaret Moseley has done a wonderful job of providing a somewhat twisted, classic, detective mystery. This is a very enjoyable novel. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"Bonita Faye is one of the most likable gals you would ever want to meet. A sassy woman from rural Poteau, Oklahoma, she spends a lifetime looking back on her dramatic liberation from mean, low-down Billy Roy Burnett. In this funny, touching and very endearing tale, she tells all -- from the night Billy Roy was killed on Cavanal Hill to the day she leaves Poteau behind and follows her dreams to Paris, France. By the time you've finished hearing it all, Bonita Faye will have won a permanent place in your heart." --provided by Goodreads. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
