Gabriel Fitzmaurice has long been regarded as one of the best translators of Irish poetry into English. This book gathers together his favorite translations. The poems range from the 18th century to today. Some of the poets included are Marden O Direain, Sean O Riordain, Maire Mhac an tSaoi, Caitlin Maude, Aine Ni Ghlinn, Michael Davit, Gabriel Rosenstock, Cathal O Searcaigh, and Fitzmaurice's famous translation of Michael Hartnett's The Purge (An Phurgoid).
