Awkward rhyming, but the little boy's imagination of the crow outside makes up for it. A story about a boy waking up and coming down the stairs to see a crow outside. He imagines that the crow is proud king, a sneaky robber, a white wizard or a pirate on the open seas peering through a spy glass. The boy gathers up his courage and opens the door only to discover it was just a crow (a not so scary person) and a crow just as scared as he. Although a tribute to Edgar Allen Poe's "The Raven" and a good story to have available for children to read during Halloween or the fall, it would not be such a good book for a read-aloud. The concept of flipping between the imagination and reality is interesting, but it doesn't grab at the reader as much I expected when looking at the cover of the book. A dark, creepy shape outside a home might be a pirate, a wizard, or something much less frightening. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
