The image of the circle is sacred to many Native American tribal nations. Every year, the seasons flow into one another in a never-ending circle, signaling the proper time to plant, to gather, to celebrate, and to give thanks. Written by acclaimed Native American storyteller Joseph Bruchac, Seasons of the Circle is a stunningly illustrated celebration of a Native American year. From Maliseet hunters following moose tracks in the snow to Cherokee people gathering berries in May, this is a hauntingly lyrical tribute to the circle of the seasons. I enjoyed this book for the author's note, meaning and pronunciation of tribal names guide, map of "tribal regions" and moon names infomormation more than the content of the book. Without this researched and factual information about the different tribes this book would have been lost. Though the author is Native American this book could have been written my a a cultural outsider with researched information. I do like the acknowledgments which show the use of many Native American organizations and individuals as a reference for both the author and illustrator. This book could be used for a program talking about yearly traditions where they book could be read then the children could discuss some of the traditions their families partake in. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
