Chris Saldrick's "The Big Book of Sudoku Puzzles: Absolute Beginner to Easy" IMO is a GREAT and fun resource for thinking folks who want to solve problems, even those who have never worked a Sudoku puzzle before.  Saldrick's explanations complemented my own prior understanding with helpful information about Sudoku's L-O-N-G history and how one might productively solve sudoku puzzles of varying increasing) difficulty.  Get a copy whether you're a seasoned Sudoku aficionado or a green newby.
