Carnage is a great name for the chaos this book is. I was excited for this read and knowing how ruthless the Lords and our Kings are I was thinking the Spade brothers would put them to shame, but I was a tad disappointed.
Yes, this book is dark and twisted, probably one of the darkest ones I’ve read by the author, but I just didn’t get the same vibes from them as I did the Lords and Kings. Some things were similar, and Saint could come off as a jerk, but there was something missing. Maybe it’s a me thing and I set the bar way too high. Did I love Saint? Yes, at times I did (more than I liked Ashtyn) and other times I wanted to strangle him.
As a Lord, Saint knows his duties in life, but as a Spade brother who runs Carnage with his “brothers” (not biological), they make their own rules while still following their Lord duties. Saint is obsessed with Ashtyn and what he wants is what he gets. I was all for another possessive male obsessing over his chosen, but Saint liked to share her with his “brothers”. No, it’s not RH but it gave me Emelie and Titan vibes with I love her, I’ll share her with you, she’s mine no one else, but you can love her too just stay away until I say you can join. This to me was meh, because the other two brothers have their own chosen/woman they seem to be obsessed with, yet they love Ash as much as Saint?! To me a man obsessed and as possessive as Saint was, would never share and Ashtyn wasn’t my favorite. I felt bad for everything she endured, and my heart hurt for her, but there was just nothing great that stood out for me.
Anyways the plot of the book kept me intrigued as I was trying to figure out who was doing what and the twists really threw me for a loop as I wasn’t expecting so many of them at the end. I loved getting to see so many of the guys we’ve all fallen in love with in each series, that to me was my favorite, and I am very curious about Haidyn. ( )
