Roland & Callie's story. My favorite of this series! Roland is owner of Osprey media who is mentioned in each book of the series as he kept all of the bosshole millionaires in each book front and center in the media gossip. Roland is stoic and has removed himself from any relationship with anyone & his staff is afraid of him except his confidant and director Wanda. Callie is a new hire at one of his off shoot magazines about music. She has a famous father who was ripped apart by the media in his heyday and lives a quiet alcoholic existence. Callie & Roland meet for the first time in an airport lounge and it doesn't go well. Her first day on the job and surprise, he's the owner and boss. Tension between the two of them is almost hatred on Callie's part. She's tapped to go undercover on a secondary project for his gossip mag to gather information to bring down a powerful executive that preys on young musicians he wants revenge on. Roland's obsession to bring him down clouds reasoning while his attraction to Callie grows steady. She teases him with different lipsticks everyday and he's hooked. An out of town trip turns up the heat and they start a torrid affair against both of their rules. Roland has secrets and is armored. Callie falls hard and lets him consume her till they are both obsessed until another gossip rag exploits both of them. Roland must decide if the relationship is worth it more than revenge he seeks. A slow burn with fleshed out characters and side stories that all tie together.
