Heart of Stone is the 6th book in the Lone Star Rangers series by K.L. Ramsey. This book was a fast pace short read about an instant attraction between two people who let it grow to see where it took them. You don't even have to read any of the other books in the series to read this one.
Stone is a reformed bad boy who once thought gang life was where his future was until he hesitated during his first kill and got caught by the police. He knew if he didn't take the deal offered and go into witness protection then he would be killed in jail. He grew up to turn his life around and became a Texas Ranger. In an earlier book in the series, you learn that he has 2 half sisters that he knew nothing about so he's still getting used to that and adjusting. While on duty trying to talk a kid down he gets injured. Jolene is appointed his physical therapist and when she moves in temporarily that is when their attraction soars. She agrees to have friends-with-benefits while she's living with him and helping him to get better.
I gave this book a 2-star rating and a 2-spicy rating because it didn't draw me in or hold my attention at all. I think maybe that is because of how short it was. This was a beautiful story that could have had so much more depth added to it. The book was over before it even started for me and that was disappointing. If you are someone that like's short reads then this one would be for you. I hate it wasn't one for me because I like K.L. Ramsey's books so much. ( )
