Richardson served Nixon as Attorney General as the Watergate scandal was breaking. Nixon ordered him to fire the special prosecutor, Archibald Cox. Rather than either disoby the President or violate his oath and promise to Congress, ER resigned. His successor Ruckeshaus was also ordered to fire Cox, and also resigned. The third "acting" AG was Robert Bork. [45-47] He obeyed Nixon. But by this time and unprecedented public outcry had been raised. The author does not mention or index the name we call this unprecedented event -- "the Saturday Night Massacre". It revealed, as the author admits, "A government of laws was on the verge of becoming a government of one man". [47]
Sincere, decent policy recommendations, without being vicious to anyone. However, the author talks about airy policy when in fact he was an eye-witness privy and functional party to the take-over of the People's organs of government by thugs. He admits knowing about Hunt's violence and Bebe Rebozo's dirty money bank notes. Did he somehow NOT know that Bebe was Nixon's only real friend in the world -- that he was his constant perduring companion? Richardson documents facts, and describes the danger to our liberty, without seeming to understand the cause. ( )
