This books has some good actionable steps in raising kids. Most of the tips are geared towards older kids. There are few tips for preschoolers.

In my opinion having an entire chapter for jokes is bit too much.

This is an English book using words from other language without any explanation doesn't help a reader in any ways. For instance author uses the word 'mensch' in few places as it is a commonly used word. I understand it is a common practice for English writers to use french phrases to convey some meaning but these are not french words and it confuses the reader morn than it helps.

Open ended questioning, Feeling fingerprints, FIGTESPN, power of praise, praising specific behaviours, ignoring kid irritations, chill out, keep calm technique

are some of the key takeaways from this book.

As another reviewer mentioned restraining a per-schooler during time out seems extreme. I'm not sure if it doesn't affect the child in any negative way.

It's an OK book with some flows since it's the only book I read so far about parenting I cannot make fair comparison. ( )

"Emotionally Intelligent Parenting expands on the insights of Daniel Goleman's bestselling Emotional Intelligence to present inspirational, practical and realistic ways to help children develop the qualities of emotional intelligence. Parents are encouraged to help children:
Be aware of their own feelings and those of others
Control impulsive behaviour
Adopt cooperative work habits
Show empathy and understand others' points of view
Full of examples, exercises and tips, this book acknowledges the often chaotic reality of home life and the difficulties involved in facing life's challenges.
An eminently practical guide, Emotionally Intelligent Parenting will help parents bring the joy of emotional intelligence into family life."
