I felt that Julie Ann Hartley did a terrific job of creating a world filled with believable characters. Not only did she do that, but she gave them emotions, experiences, and realistic dialogue and interactions that gave the story more life-like quality. The pacing of the story felt even and balanced enough to make the story fun to read without getting boring by any means. The opening scene was pretty intense in the sexual imagery but that didn't take away from the story. If anything, it showcased the author's ability to portray real people in a real setting. I received this book as an early reviewer, and although I really liked the premise on which it is built, sadly the execution left much to be desired. The basic storyline shows a lot of promise, but the book is poorly edited, with many inaccurate metaphors and word choices for descriptions, even quite a few misspellings. Also, note that this is erotic fiction, though that is not apparent from the blurb on the cover. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. The book is an interesting journey alongside the main character (Zeda) as she discovers she has supernatural powers and how to use them. I enjoyed the story itself and the premise that the characters get supernatural powers in order to save the earth. I liked the ideas of ways to interrupt climate change (except that they require those supernatural powers, so it's not really realistic, but interesting). On the down-side - - the book includes regular graphic sex scenes which may be too much for some readers. I didn't mind them, but they didn't add to the story for me. The story stops abruptly at the end of the book, which left me unsatisfied. It didn't feel like a cliffhanger, more like the last chapter was missing. It was a bit unusual, given the circumstances our protagonist was faced with. I think the author did an excellent job depicting her world, and the characters all felt realistic (despite the circumstances). They were believable and responded in realistic ways to the events of the story.Excellent writing style as well. I highly recommend this one to anyone willing to accept a bit of grit in exchange for a unique reading experience. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
