The first part gives the backstory for the Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter (later version) and Alice. There is also a three part backup story, The Experiment, which parallels the Queen of Hearts story and explains how the link between our world and Wonderland was made. The Experiment is also reprinted in its entirety in The House of Liddle anthology.
The second part tells the stories of the Cheshire Cat, The Red Queen, Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum, and the Mad Hatter II (original version). The latter two stories, like all others in the anthology serve as prequel stories to the main trilogy (Return, Beyond and Escape). The other two are set between Beyond and Escape. As with vol.1, there is a four-part backup story, The Arrangement, which tells of how Charles Dodgson came into possession of the mirror.
The third part tells the stories of the White Knight, the Red Rose, and Queen of Hearts vs. Mad Hatter. The first two stories originate earlier in the history of our world (Lancelot's son and Elizabeth Bathory respectively), whilst the other one is self explanatory. Again, there is a three-part backup story, The Redemption, in which Dodgson tries to get rid of the looking glass, which links into the beginning of Return to Wonderland.
This anthology draws together all 10 issues of the Tales From Wonderland comics. ( )
