One of my favorite books. If I recall rightly, I read this book first, in a library (maybe Bowling Green?) and only later, top my delight, got hold of the earlier volume Young Caesar. This volume covers Caesar's life from his entry into Gaul to his death, as if written by Caesar himself on his last night (though realistically, he could not have written this much in one night.) Caesar comes across as a wonderfully warm intelligent man; the grim side that slaughterd Gauls and sold tem into slavery etc, is not emphasized. aucune critique | ajouter une critique
