This is my first book by this author and I’m a huge paranormal romance fan so when I got sucked into this world I fell in love immediately. Lucy leads a pretty boring and lonely life, she’s all work, then home to be by herself but she craves love. When Cassie’s comes into her life nothing is ever the same for her and she doesn’t realize just how much her life is about to change. Heaven, hell, good, bad, redemption, love this story has it all with twists and turns that left me breathe less. I loved Caziel and he’s determination to do better. This story was an amazing journey with amazing characters and I can’t wait to read Ambri’s story. This was pure paranormal romance perfection that I can’t stop thinking about and will definitely do a re read. “He’s mine and I’m his. always.” ( )

Fantastic.

I can always count on this author to take me on a journey. She uses words as if they are painted on a canvas and in doing so leaves me like putty in her hands. There is always something poetic and almost lyrical in the way that she writes. There is always a message that resonates with me, and in this book, there were several.

Cas and Lucy are dynamic characters. There is a level of complexity here that I cannot say much about without giving away a part of this story. I am not just saying this because of the paranormal aspects but more because of the tiered levels of love that are in it. The gentle nuances of what love is were a nice reminder of why it is often so hard to describe it as something tangible. Much like faith or death, there is not much known about it other than preconceived ideas or images. Yet, just like with love, we leave the options open of what it truly means to us as individuals. I liked that the author gave me many moments to ponder, not just love, but life and living and even what happens in death. She did it in a way that defies reason because it never felt preachy, nor did it seem like it could not be in the realm of possible outcomes. Many ideas that this author covered are ones that I believe in real life. Even if they aren't what happens, they give me comfort and soothe the void in my soul. Therein lies the beauty of what this author did. She made me connect in a visceral way making these characters and their story resonate in a completely different way.

I loved the tie-in with romance novels and why we, as readers, are drawn to them. I loved the explanation of how we have our own baggage with personal demons and makes me more aware, whether true or not, how to overcome those 'Thoughts.'

This was an unconventional love story in the sense that it didn't fit into the typical categories that we, as readers, like to put our books into. Even with the paranormal aspects, I wouldn't call this PNR. Instead, it felt like a love story, that withstood the test of time and would continue to do so. It defied the categories and was poignant, powerful, and a reminder that love can come in a plethora of ways.

One of my favorites from this author. This book is truly an experience in life and love. I highly recommend anything that this author writes but this is one of my favorites for 2021. Off-topic, this cover is aesthetically sublime. ( )
