Independent Reading Level: Grades k-2 This colorful and cheery book follows a large creature who has the same routine every day and likes things just the way they are. Then the large creature encounters a smaller creature and tries to teach him the routines he follows. The smaller creature follows the habits at first but then decides to break the mold and do things his own way. The large creature is overwhelmed by this initially until he discovers that he can try and even enjoy new things. This book opens up the opportunity for great conversations with students. The text is easy to follow and relatable. The illustrations are fun and cheerful and students will enjoy reading about the creatures and how they find a new way together. The Creature lives on the island of Habit, where every day he eats the same foods and does the same things - until a visitor arrives. The Creature shows the visitor around, but is surprised and dismayed when, on the second day, the visitor wants to do things differently. Slowly, however, the Creature begins to understand the appeal of trying new things, including staying out late to watch the stars. "And tomorrow, there would be time to stick to the schedule...if they wanted to. After all, anything could happen." aucune critique | ajouter une critique
