Although the story employs different characters and places, the writing of Hobb is easily recognizable. Robin Hobb has an obvious storyteller talent and involves the reader with so much ease.
Clearly Ship of Magic is a nice first shot although I expect higher achievements in the next books. I found that the story drags a bit toward the end of the book, however Hobb excels at setting the pirates/shipping/sea atmosphere found here. ( )
