I liked this book better than the first one. While the first one was OK, it took me a while to really understand and feel the dynamics of Cyrus and Lorenz. In this book, there was an easier flow to their relationship and I felt a little more connected with them this time around.
Cyrus and Lorenz are back a year or so after the events of book 1 and are still completely in love with each other. It is refreshing to see a story where the characters don't have the "fight/break up/make up" theme. They work together and the drama is not relationship based. They work on solving different paranormal type cases, and get stuck in dangerous situations together. This book has vampires, witches, talking dolls, a traveling circus, dragons, and loads of other creatures. It was very interesting to see where the story was going to go, and the author wrote a very detailed world.
The story wrapped up rather nicely overall, but there is definitely more to come and many questions that need to be answered. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next. I am not a fan of cliff hangers, and although this story needs to be finished, I thought the author did a great job of not leaving me hanging so much where I was frustrated. I got a teaser that there is more to come, but not a glaring cliffie. That made me happy. :-) ( )
