For the majority of the novel I was content with the lack of conflict, I had no objections to just gliding through page after page of sweetness and charm and enjoying Jonas and Krissy’s chemistry and loving the dog. I probably would have stayed content with it had they continued on with no bumps in their road all the way to the end as this story didn’t really feel like it needed bumps which I guess is why once it had one it felt manufactured.
That dark moment, the moment in every romance where some obstacle gets in the way and the reader is meant to feel like all might be lost, that moment for Jonas and Krissy didn’t feel significant enough to warrant the way one of them reacted, a snippet of conversation, less than a snippet sent someone running. If there had to be a dark moment (which like I said, it seemed like this maybe could have been an exception to that particular romance storytelling rule) I just wish there had been more substance to it, some difference between them that legitimately had to be overcome rather than something along the lines of a misunderstanding easily cleared up.
