I’m reading all the Amelita Rae books bit by bit. What I like about them is that they are short and they are all different from the other. Some are PWP, but this story isn’t. Dr. Tokawa is a genius and found it difficult to find trustworthy assistants. All they wanted to do was steal his discoveries for themselves. He hires Mariku, and Mariku is perfect in many ways. Oh, except for being very clumsy and only attracted to big, muscled men and Tokawa is anything but big and muscled. He’s the typical nerd/geek. This is a story about how Tokawa goes about solving the problem of getting Mariku’s attention.
The complaint I have about this story again as I did with the previous stories, is the strange changes in povs. The writing didn’t seem as bad in this book as in the others, maybe I’m just getting used to the oddness, but it’s still there. In addition, the author still uses many descriptors for the characters, like ‘the blond boy, etc.’ Another thing is that the dominant male, always and I mean always, has 'gold' eyes. There's almost no variety what-so-ever in the physical descriptions of the characters from book to book.
There’s more of a plot line in this book with some sexy times. It’s a cute fun read, more my preference than the ones that are all PWP and non-con. I give Handsome: A Yaoi Romance, 3 Stars. I can’t give it more because the author hasn’t corrected the issues that are prevalent in every book she’s written.
