2.5 Stars which I will generously round up to 3

A cute LGBTQIA YA romance about being true to yourself and not letting fear or other people's expectations prevent you from fulfilling your dreams. Nothing particularly stood out as unique or really interesting but it was a nice easy read. It lightly tackled some important issues such as abuse, homomisia and discrimination but the main storyline was about Ruby and Morgan's relationship.

CW: Homomisia, discrimination, sexual content ( )

Too much coming out and not enough just being gay. ( )

Reading this made me realize what a very easy time I had growing up. Reading a good book is like getting a chance to live another persons life and this book gives you the chance to do that times two. ( )

Ruby loves auto mechanics but her mother, a former beauty pageant contestant, wants her daughter to have when she never had--the Miss America title, even that that possibility is remote. A closeted bisexual, however, is not pageant winner material.

Morgan is an out lesbian who is suing her former Catholic private school for homophobia, not allowing a lesbian to be on the track team.

Ruby and Morgan meet when Ruby almost runs her over in the school parking lot. While there is an instant attraction, Ruby won't admit it and Morgan won't get involved with someone who puts her back in the closet...or will she?

Very enjoyable. You'll like Ruby and Morgan and the ancillary characters. ( )
