Note: I received a digital review copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. "Margot was only interested in one thing." Unfortunately, the people around her - her loving mother, her teachers, her classmates - are less interested. Margot's distance from them is represented by a space helmet and spacesuit as the story progresses; eventually, Margot gets so upset that she writes on the wall of her room with a marker ("Writing out her feelings felt good"). When her mother comes in and reads what she's written, Margot is afraid she will be mad, but instead, she takes a marker herself and writes "I HEAR YOU" on the wall after Margot's message. Together, they paint over the wall - dark blue, with stars and a rocket ship - and Margot's mother tapes up two huge pieces of paper for Margot to write on whenever she wants ("Margot's Space"). "A universal story about speaking, listening and being heard. Margot loves space. Astronauts, the stars, and especially the moon landing. So she can't understand why all of her attempts to communicate her passion fall on disinterested ears. Her mom is patient but distracted; her classmates would rather play kickball; and her teacher just wants her to focus and pay attention in class. Even so, Margot wishes she never had to talk about anything but space ever again. When she wakes up one morning and discovers she can only recite Neil Armstrong's famous speech from the moon landing, Margot realizes she has an even bigger problem. How can Margot get everyone to pay attention and--more importantly--to hear what she's really trying to say? This powerful picture book debut plays with themes of listening and communication to highlight the importance of a space of one's own, no matter what your passion may be."-- Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |
