I need to start off with saying that my review would probably be better if I had read the first book in this series. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be read as a series or if the author was trying to create standalone novels that could be connected. If she was going for the latter, it didn’t work for me because I ended up feeling lost and confused, as if i was missing out on some important details. The dynamic between characters was stilted and awkward, there seemed to be a lot of repetition in talking about the past storyline, and I just didn’t connect with the plot or characters. The idea behind this is incredibly unique with both the characters wanting to switch up being sub or dom but I think the execution was lacking a little bit. I would’ve wanted more details about their boundaries and guidelines in regards to switching. While the sex scenes are explicit and often, I found them to be very subpar. Out of nowhere, both characters would switch from talking normally, to talking as sub/dom and a few sentences later were coming together. I just would’ve enjoyed more details in between how they went from point A to point B lol. ( )

The hero of this story is to-die-for! Ryan is thoughtful, sexy hot and just a perfect book-boyfriend. If you've read 'Taking the Lead', Reed's story, you will have met both of these characters already, but you've not learned what they're all about - let me tell you, it's worth the journey! Kristin is snarky fun and totally likable, though she's not your girl-next-door kind of friend, she's the fun office girl you think is nuts! :) Together they are sizzling - emotionally and in every other way. THIS is a must read - 5 stars!! ( )
