I get it, it’s a restating of Dunkirk, yes, you can stop belaboring the point. If I wanted that level of historical accuracy, I would read an actual book about Dunkirk!!! And the characters are so tropingly trope-ic it hurts. Or they spout philosophical points that just don’t fit. ‘All Neos (Nazis) are Galts (Germans), but not all Galts are Neos.’ A fine sentiment, that is highly unlikely to be uttered by an infantry sergeant whose unit is retreating in the face of invasion by said Galts. Not to mention that the depths of Nazi atrocities weren’t generally known by troops at Dunkirk, or even leaders in general. It’s not terrible. The prose is readable and the pace seems decent.
