A winter's heart . . . The Marquess of Winterbourne has long been guided by his Rules of the Rogue, but as spy for the Crown, his next mission will break every single one. Sent to the wilds of Cornwall to beguile secrets from a lady, the last thing this rogue expects is to unearth his own buried heart. A taste of spring . . . Miss Tamsyn Penrose remains far from impressed by London scoundrel Lord Winterbourne, preferring a wild gallop over the moors to sinful lips and fulsome flattery. But as danger lurks and her prejudice ebbs, she uncovers a man of contradictions, a man who awakens her forgotten fire. Seasons collide . . . In this Cornish land of cove and mystery, desire sparks and passion flares. But will Jack Winterbourne tear up the rules for a woman who maddens his senses and thaws his heart?… (plus d'informations)

Emily Windsor has made quite an impact on me since discovering her a couple of months ago. I'm slowly working my way through her backlist and so far all her books have been terrific. She's definitely become a go to for feel good romance with humour, decent plots and lively characters.

This one was really good. Best book of the series. Although I will say I wish I had read The Captivating Debutantes before this series. I wouldn't say it's necessary - these books are standalone - but I think it would give more enjoyment since there are glimpses of characters here and there. Plus I love Jack's meddling and apparently he features in the other series.

The writing is strong. The plot unfolds at the perfect pace. The mystery is interesting and the romance is divine. There's no real angst for the romance and I loved how they got to know each other and fell in love. It was swoonworthy. Jack is hilarious and sweet and very much the life of the party. I enjoyed his optimistic and hopeful outlook and his desire to bring joy to people's lives. Tamsyn was a very strong character. She's suffered through a very traumatic experience and has worked hard to overcome her fears. I liked that Jack built up her confidence and spirit so effortlessly and so carefully. And I enjoyed her journey back to happy and living her life.

The side story with Oliver and Lowdy was awesome. Jack has such a big heart - it was so nice to see that he was busy tracking down and looking after all his siblings and I loved the addition of Millie to the story. His little opera dancer indeed! There were lots of great quotes and funny anecdotes. I did miss the bromances of the series in this book - I kind of would have liked to see them all interfering and giving him advice as payback. I was smiling pretty much the whole way through the book, laughing at the banter and the snark and the just the happiness that fills the pages.

This is honestly just a really great feel good read with a bit of danger, a bit of action, a swoonworthy romance and lots of love, heart and humour. It's not quite 5 stars but it's pretty close to it. 4.5 stars. ( )

I just discovered this author and I have read all her books, this last one being my favorite as it is a wonderful conclusion to all the others. All of her books have made me tear up with emotion and laugh out loud in other parts. I highly recommend Emily Windsor! ( )
