Sometimes a single flame can ignite a love that lasts a lifetime. Milo Phillips knows the meaning of pain. Suffering through the most intense physical agony of his life, he is confined to a hospital bed to bear it alone. More than once, he wishes he had died in the explosion that melted and mangled his skin. Darkness consumes him, snuffing all the joy in his life and leaving an empty hole in its place. But one day, a flicker of light sneaks into his hospital room, driving away some of the hopelessness. For the first time in months, pain is not all he feels. The flickers name is Sara Foster, his new nurse. Milo just hopes that Sara can see past his scars. Because underneath, his heart has begun beating again just for her.… (plus d'informations)

As cute as the story of how Milo and Sarah fell in love was, it just seemed odd that it is the last book of the series. If anything, it felt anticlimactic and out of place. Maybe, had I read this as it happened in the timeline of the stories it would have made me connect more.

That being said, I'm still sad to see this series end. Plus, I really wanted Paxton to get a story. ( )

Good story.
Well written.
Devoted Hero.
Milo and Sara.
No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine.
No cheating.
Other man drama in the sense that another man is interested but the heroine doesn't encourage him.
References to earlier books and events so best to read series in order not to spoil it.
Prologue is present time.
Chapter 1 is the heroine sharing the story of how they met.
I did feel it felt short, ending was fine but certain events felt a bit rushed to me, there could have been more scenes with her brother and mother but maybe that's for a future book, who knows.
It has been commented on as a novella, hence expecting it to be shorter but it is marked as book 6 in the series.
I liked that neither were particularly experienced with the opposite sex. Both hadn't been with anyone else for a long time.
HEA. ( )

Devney Perry, Author of "The Candle Palace" has written an amazing, emotional, thought-provoking and romantic novel. The Genres for this novel are Fiction, Women's Fiction, and Romance. The timeline for this story is in the present and anything in the past pertains to the characters or events in this story. The author describes her characters as each having their strengths and weaknesses.

Sara Foster is a nurse in a Burn Unit in the hospital and has seen patients in the worst physical condition and horrific pain. Wherever she can offer them comfort she does. One of the teenage patients loves candles, and Sara brings her colorful battery-operated candles.

One new admission, Milo Phillips was badly burned in an explosion. He is in terrible pain and very badly scarred. Milo blames himself and sometimes is very testy with the staff. Milo warms immediately to Sara's presence in the room. Sara seems to be his bright light. Only hospital rules necessitate having certain rules in place.

I appreciate that the author discusses important topics such as scarring and looking different in society, drugs and alcohol, and dysfunctional family and work situations. I also love that the author talks about the importance of family, friends, love, emotional support and hope. I highly recommend this wonderful book. ( )
