Just when I think that this author cannot possibly top the depraved things she wrote before... Holy hell. This author's mind frightens me. Yet, it also intrigues me because it truly is like watching a horror film. Ethan, Declan, and Helena were not my favorite of this series but it still was a good book. This was a phenomenal read: Miss Bennett has absolutely smashed this story: there's nobody who can do dark and depraved quite like this author and I think Depravity for me was her most graphic that I have read to date. First, this can definitely be read as a standalone: but you're probably gonna be like me and want to backtrack as soon as your finished here: to check out the rest of this purely psychotic family who makes the Manson's themselves seem like normal everyday folk. This is one of them stories you just need to dive right into the decadence and fully immerse yourself in its highly hedonistic flavour of self-indulgent torturous pleasure: where anything goes and the sickness of mind and body is indulged to the point of an almost broken morality. And got to admit I Bloody hands down Loved it: so refreshing to experience such an unapologetic attitude to all things wrong and wretched: where nobody is eventually redeemed and its individuals revel whole-heartedly in their dissolute degeneracy almost like a newly found religion of sorts. Depravity itself is the tale of Helena, Declan and Ethan: it's an unconventional love story which contains both M/M and M/F/M, in fact, anything goes with these three end-gamers. Helena herself is a blank canvas when she comes to the boy's attention: an empty vessel with a penchant for fixing things (after she's broken them first of course). She doesn't feel emotion like normal people and has been told her whole isolated life that she is sick: shes also comes across as slightly strange and for definite a touch cray- cray. Declan and Ethan recognise the seed of immorality growing inside Helena and from day one they are enthralled by her slightly unhinged wrongness: they see within her: the missing piece of there puzzle and as such take steps to procure there baby-girl ready and willing to nurture her nature to its full brilliant imperfection. Declan and Ethan Accept Helena fully for the first time in her life: revelling in all that she has been told by her mother would actually repel. In there loving hands she starts to emerge from her protective cocoon truly finding her place in what is to her a strange and confusing minefield of new emotions. So this is hot, dirty and decadent. Graphic, Gory and glorious. This is unhinged Immorality at its finest and if that is not your bag then best to give this a wide berth as this doesn't pull its punches in the slightest: some of the scenes here: well let's just say they are not for the squeamish and take a strong stomach if you know what I mean. So yeh this was a big hit for me: my favourite of this authors work since I read Savages. Highly recommend this one if you're into super dark and different. Just, please be aware what you are embarking on as this is super graphic in nature. I voluntary reviewed an Arc of Depravity. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. Helena has been told her entire life that she is sick. Her mother hates her because she's sick and she's just like her father, who has now left them for another life. And of course, that's all Helena's fault too. All Helena wants to be able to do is fix broken things. She knows that she can make them better, but she's not allowed to try to fix them. However, when her mother's boyfriend Buddy breaks her, Helena gets to fix both her mom and Buddy. But then she has to call her dad. Her dad takes her to his house and she gets pulled into the orbit of Declan and Ethan.
Declan and Ethan are partners in every possible way, but they know that they are missing something. They are looking for the center layer of their cake. And when they see Helena, they know that she's perfect for them. She is like the perfect blank piece of paper for them write on.
The 3 of them really are perfect for each other. Declan and Ethan act "normal" enough that they will be able to help Helena to figure out how and what she's feeling. They will also give her plenty of time and space to fix things.
I really, really want more of these guys, because I think the evolution of Helena is going to be really interesting to watch, and that the relationship between the three of them will just get stronger and stronger. ( )
