Reading this book brought back a lot of memories with my own grandmother. This book was about Lulu, the grandmother and her two grandchildren Laurie, and J Matthew. Lulu can't decide where she wants to celebrate her birthday at. In the past they have celebrated it at the zoo, the beach, the movies, the ball park and many more places. As Lulu and her grandchildren talk about how much fun they had celebrating their grandmother's birthday at these different places, they cannot figure out where to celebrate this birthday at. Laurie and J Matthew have an idea! They bring Lulu down stairs and SURPRISE!!!! They put together a surprise birthday party for their grandmother with all their family members there! Lulu was so surprised and this was the best birthday ever, just having her whole family there together. It remind me of times with my grandmother and how she would always spend my birthdays with me, and that was the best gift ever, because now I have those memories to look back on and forever cherish them. Lulu will now have this memory also and she too can cherish this birthday and everyone that was there to help her celebrate it. ( )

The illustrations are my favorite thing about this book! I love them, they're detailed, and you have to look at them to notice the things going on in the background. I had to go back twice before I noticed what was happening! Lulus Birthday is about two kids, Laurie, and J. Matthew; they're talking about how they want to celebrate Lulus birthday. Lulu is their great aunt, and throughout the book, they're talking about fun places they've been before and had a fun time. They want to go to the zoo or the beach, while they're speaking in the living room you notice if you're looking closely at the pictures behind them, through the window, people are walking around holding balloons and presents. From this, you can expect that the kids already planned a surprise party for Lulu and they're trying to distract her by suggesting different places to go for her birthday. ( )

Lulu's Birthday is a cute story about Lulu and J. Matthew planning their Aunt Lulu's birthday. They ask their aunt if they can spend her birthday at the zoo, the beach, the ballet, the movies, or the baseball game. Each time they mention a place, they describe what you see and do at the location. This is perfect for young children who are reading this book to find out about different places. They then decide to take Aunt Lulu to a secret place. When she arrives, her whole family is there and they shout "SURPRISE!". Aunt Lulu is excited to see everyone and is grateful and impressed that her niece and nephew planned it. The illustrations in this book are colorful and go along with the story perfectly. I think this was such a heartwarming book about family and would be great for children to read. ( )

This book is about a women named Lulu and its her birthday. Laurie and J. Matthew are trying to help Lulu decided where to have her birthday. They started giving her ideas about past fun experiences. But, at the end of the book they surprised Lulu with a SURPRISE birthday party and the whole family was there.

I liked how at the end of the book the author put in the recipe for Lulu's birthday cake. ( )
