"Rocket Out of the Park" is an engaging story for developing readers about a group of friends making rockets at a creative fair. It was fun to see the kids' personalities come through in the different ways they approached the task. The experiment central to the story is easy enough that inspired readers can make a rocket for themselves at home.Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. Sweet early chapter/reader with STEM and SEL connections! Though I was unfamiliar with the media connection (and therefore the final page about posting a video was a little clunky), the story stands alone nicely. Dot is a spunky girl who designs a rocket and questions the designs of her friends. This makes for nice discussions about both respecting the choices of others and STEM facts. I will be keeping and eye out for more Dot books in the future, solid additions to a new reader library! Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. I'm not familiar with Dot, yet love the curious, unique personality that she is. Showing the value of individuality, Dot and friends each create rockets for different reasons. The science element is good, but I'd love to see more on rocket making, why things fly, etc to extend STEM studies. Cette critique a été écrite dans le cadre des Critiques en avant-première de LibraryThing. This is a fun read, with diverse but not stereotypical characters. Good message and illustrations make it easy to digest and equally easy to take away lessons. aucune critique | ajouter une critique

"Dot is at the Creative Fair, where everyone's excited about making fizz-powered rockets. 'Make your rocket ship your own!' says Dot's mom. Dot is keen on making the fastest rocket of them all, with no decorations to weigh it down. When it's time for liftoff, Dot's rocket soars out of sight, while Ruby's snows down glitter, Nev and Dev's sprays out shaving cream, and Hal's makes a huge noise. Everyone's rockets are totally different, and it turns out they're all the best!""--Provided by publisher. Aucune description trouvée dans une bibliothèque |

Dot is a spunky white character surrounded by a diverse group of kids. In this particular book in the series Dot and her mother are at the Creative fair. The fair is about people sharing their inventions and artwork. Dot’s mom shows Dot and her friends how to build fizz-powered rockets. Dot is in it to have her own rocket go fast and far where her friends are more looking at their rockets to make them individually unique. She is surprised that all the rockets have a different quality that makes them interesting.
A book divided into chapters and advertised by the publisher as a level 2 book fit for beginning emerging readers not ready for smaller sized books yet. The chapters are 10+ pages long but the font is a little bigger than a smaller sized beginning chapter book.
This might be too ambitious for kindergartners but fans of the show will probably like this series.
