This book had me hooked from the beginning. It starts out with us meeting Remus, the main character, on his first day of school. He is trying to hide his abusive past from everyone. He meets Arthur, who becomes his roommate, and is sucked into the world of the Lodge. I could sense mystery surrounding Remus from the beginning. I knew there was something wrong with him that he himself wasn't even aware of. There were a few things that seemed too obvious that I couldn't quite get that he didn't realize, even with what is later to be revealed wrong with him(no spoilers from me!). He was a very likable character. I picked up on the truth about Ulric from the beginning. Hopefully the hints that were given prove to be true. Sebastian and Victor are both likable characters as well. Both have their own flaws and I like how Remus is unsure about each of them at different times. It was so much better without the insta-love element. I found myself wrapped up in the mysterious plot of the book. Nothing felt rushed and everything flowed fairly smoothly. There are some spelling and grammatical errors but they can easily be overlooked, for me anyway. I can't wait to read Book 2! ( )
