Micah Dean Hicks' tale, of a family in a dying small town being choked with ghosts, made enough of an impact to give me a nightmare. However, I dreamed about poor people, not ghosts. Kelly Armstrong's reuses the old trope of vampirism as an epidemic, but she makes sure her readers understand that the healthy people are the real monsters. Rafeeat Aliy has a woman preferring to remain with her husband-turned-zombie rather than get a divorce (or beheading him?) Nick Mamatas has the shrilliest and least effective of the tales, as the victim of an Internet hate group strikes back. J.S. Breukelaar's excerpt has a woman and her society ignoring an intrusive race of zombies that strongly resemble the real world's homeless. ( )
