A beautifully presented informational cookbook packed with recipes and appealing photographs. Many of the recipes call for nontraditional ingredients (e.g. hemp seeds, chia seeds, coconut milk and coconut water, ghee, etc.). With many categories of recipes, there's something for everyone: smoothies, juices, breakfasts, soups, omnivore mains and vegetarian mains, sides, snacks, desserts, and sauces and dressings. There are sections in the beginning about diagnoses, "functional and dysfunctional foods," and eating to combat common side effects. There's also a nice chart (p. 16-17) of types of oils and when to use which ones.
Each recipe is very clear; each one has a brief intro, a recipe list, and instructions, as well as the number of servings, how long it can be frozen for, prep time, and cook time.
Interesting recipes:
Soothing Squash Ginger Soup, p. 123 - with pears and turmeric!
Creamy Tomato Soup, p. 126 - with coconut milk
Chocolate Tahini Cookies, p. 226 - almond flour and coconut sugar
Ingredients to add to smoothies: nut butter (e.g. almond), hemp seeds, kale or spinach leaves, turmeric, dates (pitted!), hemp seeds, raw cacao powder, raw cashews, avocado, cinnamon, coconut milk, ginger root, banana, mango, pineapple, berries, dairy-free milk, coconut milk, wheatgrass
