Sam gets jealous when her ghost boyfriend comforts a crying ghost called Maria. Maria is convinced that one of the people in town for the surf competition is her long lost father, though he would be over 100 years old if this were the case. She is so adamant that it is her father, that Sam and Jade set out again to try and solve the mystery of what happened after her father disappeared. While doing this, Sam has to overcome the envious feelings she has for Maria's close relationship with her ghost boyfriend.
The mystery in this story is more cohesive that the one in the first book and has better intrigue especially in the part where they visit an old Spanish Mission. Once again, the boyfriend = giggles part irked me but YAs will probably ignore it. ( )
