Jack and Rick wanted to play with each other. But they can't because they aren't next to each other. Rick helps Jack by pulling the log over. But when Rick walks over and falls over, Jack pulls him up. Finally, Jack and Rick are able to play together. Books show that it nice to help when someone needs a helping hand. The author's craft is that he uses simply words so readers who are learning to read are able to. He also has his drawings help make the story go along. The author uses punctuation in his writing to express the emotion within the story. ( )

Jack and Rick are a bear and a rabbit who are friends. They help each other and in the end they can have fun and play together. It's an easy book for children who are learning to read. Nice illustrations, but the story is quite boring. ( )
